KixStart Privacy Policy

This privacy policy ("KixStart Privacy Policy") is to inform you about the types of information that Country Music Association, Inc. ("CMA") will collect from you in connection with your application (“Application”) for the KixStart Artist Scholarship program (“Program”) including through the website located at ("Site"). This policy also describes how CMA uses this information and the parties to whom CMA discloses that information.  It will also cover your rights in relation to that information and how we communicate changes to this KixStart Privacy Policy.  Some of the information governed by this Privacy Policy is anonymous, whereas other information is personally identifiable, such as your first & last name, email address, telephone number (“Personally Identifiable Information” or “PII”).

By entering your information into the Application form, you expressly consent to CMA’s collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this KixStart Privacy Policy. This KixStart Privacy Policy is part of, and is governed by, the terms and conditions set forth in CMA’s Kickstart Artist Scholarship Program Terms of Use.

In the event that you are making an Application to the Program on behalf of a Duo or Group, you represent that you are authorized to make the Application on behalf of all members of the Duo or Group and that all members of such Duo or Group listed on the Application have been provided access to this KixStart Privacy Policy and have agreed to the terms and conditions of this KixStart Privacy Policy.

  • Application of the KixStart Privacy Policy.  This KixStart Privacy Policy only applies to the information that you provide to CMA through the Site in connection with your Application. It does not extend to the use of information collected by CMA in connection with your use of any other CMA owned or related websites or applications such as

    Additionally, inasmuch as the Program requires Applicants to apply for membership in the CMA, all information entered into the CMA Membership Database shall be solely subject to the policies governing such membership information and not this KixStart Privacy Policy.

  • Persons Under 13 Years of Age. Program applicants must be at least twenty-one years of age, accordingly CMA does not knowingly collect or distribute personal information from or about children under the age of 13 in connection with the Program. If CMA determines that it is storing personal information about a person who is or who was, at the time of providing information, under 13 years of age, CMA will delete this information from its files immediately.

  • Residents of the European Union.  Program applicants are required to be legal residents of the United States; accordingly CMA does not knowingly collect personal information of EU residents in connection with the Program. Except as set out below, by using any part of the Site, visitors to the Site from outside the United States acknowledge and agree that the Site is subject to the United States laws and regulations, and waive any claims that may arise under their own national laws.

    If you are a resident of the European Union, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation. If you wish to receive your personally-identifiable information from CMA, CMA will provide such information to you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. You have the right to transmit such personally-identifying information to another controller without hindrance from use (commonly referred to as “data portability”).

  • Information CMA Collects.  The Site is designed to collect and store the Application data of applicants to the Program.  The only information that is collected by the Site is the information voluntarily provided by applicants.  The Site does not automatically collect any data from applicants through tracking technologies such as “cookies”, “beacons” or similar technologies. CMA may automatically gather information about you that your web browser, depending on your settings, may make available to CMA. This information includes your Internet Protocol ("IP") address, operating system, and browser type, and the locations of the web pages you view right before arriving at, while navigating, and immediately after leaving the Site. Your browser may allow you to adjust your browser settings so that “do not track” requests are sent to the websites that you visit. However, CMA will not disable tracking technology that may be active on the Site in response to any “do not track” requests that we receive from your browser.

  • How CMA Uses Your Information. CMA uses the information CMA gathers through the Site only in connection with your Application to the KixStart Artist Scholarship Program. CMA may also use this information to contact and communicate with you in connection with the Program.  Upon the conclusion of the selection process for the recipients of the KixStart Artist Scholarship, we will delete all information you have provided in connection with your Application.  If you are a Recipient or Alternate, CMA will request additional consent from you to retain information you supplied hereunder or to supply additional information that will be used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the Program (which may include promotion of the Program and your participation in it).

  • Updating Your Information.   To update or delete personally-identifiable information that you provided in connection with your Application, you may contact us at  Note that if your update is made after the application deadline, this updated information may not be reflected in your Application for purposes of judging. Additionally, CMA may retain your information for a reasonable period of time, for the purpose of internal account management and fraud prevention.

  • How CMA Shares Your Information with Third Parties. CMA will not sell, rent or disclose your information to third parties unless we obtain your permission to do so at the time we collect it, except as set forth below:

    • Employees, Third-Party Processors, and Third-Party Service Providers. CMA may disclose your information to our employees, Board of Directors members and others in connection with the evaluation of your Application.  CMA may also disclose your information to contractors, affiliates, vendors, and suppliers ("Service Providers") who provide certain services to CMA or on our behalf, such as operating and supporting the Site. These Service Providers are prohibited from using your information for any purpose other than the purpose for which the Service Provider was engaged by CMA and/or as stated in this Privacy Policy.

    • Responding to Legal Orders; Protection of CMA Rights and Compliance with CMA Policies. To the extent permitted by law, CMA will disclose your information to government authorities or third parties if: (a) required to do so by law, including in response to a court order, subpoena, or other legal process; (b) CMA believes in its sole discretion that disclosure is necessary to protect against fraud, to protect the rights of CMA or other users, third parties or the public at large; or (c) CMA believes that you have abused the Site by using it to attack other systems or to gain unauthorized access to any other system, to send unauthorized or illegal communications (such as “spamming”), or otherwise to violate applicable laws. After disclosure to any third party, your information may be accessible by others as permitted or required by applicable law.

  • Security Measures.  The PII that you provide to CMA is processed and stored by CMA and its service providers for the Program, which design procedures to ensure the security of this information. Additionally, CMA restricts access to this information to our employees, persons involved in the evaluation of your Application and Service Providers who need to know this information in order to develop, operate and maintain the Site. However, no data transmission over the Internet or through mobile telecommunications can be guaranteed to be completely secure; therefore CMA cannot warrant the security of any information that you transmit to us or that is transmitted to us as a result of your use of the Site.

  • California Residents.  If you are a resident of the State of California and you have provided any PII to us, you have the right to request a list of all third parties to whom CMA has disclosed your PII during the preceding year for direct marketing purposes.   • Privacy Policy Amendments. CMA will notify you of changes to this KixStart Privacy Policy by posting the amended terms on the Site at least thirty (30) days before the effective date of the changes. If you do not agree to the new terms, you should stop using the Site, and you will not be bound by the new terms. Otherwise, the new terms will take effect after thirty (30) days.
